The following tutorial will demonstrate how to setup a mail account in the Apple Mail client (also known as Mac Mail). This tutorial is using the Mavericks OS (OSX 10.9.2). The specific Apple Mail version involved in this tutorial is version 7.2[1874]. These steps will still apply to the Apple Mail client through OSX El Capitan (10.11.3) and Apple Mail client version 9.2. If you are using an InMotion Hosting account, you can set up email accounts through the cPanel. Mac Mail allows you to access these email accounts and manage your emails.

These mac tutorials are useless to a yosemite 10.10 user. Ive seen nothing current and my droid mail is working fine but the mac mail i cannot get smtp to work at all. All this is dated and none of these setting work right on a new platform mac.


I use Mac Mail and my operating system is OS X Yosemite 10.10. I have gmail account and my business account (through inMotion) set up. I am able to send and recieve messages however recently messages created in my business account and sent form my business account appear to the recipient with my gmail address. I know this because replies come into my gmail inbox and not my business inbox. I did receive a message recently with regard to the verify authentication certificate that I may have not correctly accepted. Could that be the problem? How do I re-verify?


Thanks Arnel. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I already have @me.com and @icloud.com set up in my own name but was hoping I could create a new one for my business name. Do you know if it is possible to have 2 icloud email addresses under the one user?


This is typically caused by a bad email address/password combination or an incorrect server name. Double-check that you are entering in the full email address that you created in cPanel as well as the specific password for that account. To check your username and password, try logging into webmail using that combination.


My issue turned out to be that my info, both that imported from email setup and a manual attempt, were using just my name in the user name box. From the path mail>preferences>accounts>account information>user name. This seems so obvious, but my name is my [email protected] and the name associated with the email and my name in my mac, so it was easy to overlook, and a field I wrongly assumed would be populated correctly as it is in every other field. Also I called, I was also instructed to use 465ssl and 993ssl but this article made me feel like I had choices, which may be accurate if my fields had all been correctly entered. In the end, it works perfectly.


Suddenly cannot get email on my iphone with iOS 14.2. I get the message that there is no password provided. I have rebooted the phone. I have gone to settings and re-entered my password for the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Am jstill getting the same message that there is no password provided.

The solution in this article is ineffective. Using IOS 14.2 on my iPad and iPhone. I have had to delete and recreate the mail account already because of certificate errors. Now the system keeps telling me that no password is provided. This is not a password error or an account settings error on my part as I am using the exact same information on my MacBook Pro which is still able to send and receive emails. I believe that the fact my MacBook can send and receive should be sufficient evidence that there is not a problem with my provider. This issue with failing to send and receive on my iOS devices popped up in the last 2 days and no matter how many times I delete and recreate the account, the message persists about no password provided. When I have provided an incorrect password, it tells me the password is incorrect. Here I have provided the password, yet it tells me it is not present.


For all of those with ATT accounts, I had to get a 'secure mail key from ATT and use it during the email account setup process where it asked for password. Overall, it was a very frustrating process and I was shocked when it finally started working. It really should not be this confusing. I did the following.


Having the same issue since the latest update 14.4. Everything was working fine, update phone and one of 5 email addresses is getting the error message.
